OK. This is old, but I totally fell for it.



If you’re logged in and have ever uploaded a userpic larger than 100x100 (at least since the resizer was introduced), you’ll probably see the last original that you used. At least that seems to be the case. The relevant commit is here.

To prevent any future wtf moments, I’ve uploaded a plain white 400x400 image.

Where does one go to see if they have a dumb name?

THE WHITE PARENT REPLIES:
This is an interesting question and we have devised a four-part test.
1. Do people laugh (or restrain laughter) when you say your name?
2. Do they demand you repreat your name several times so they can understand it and/or laugh at it some more?
3. If they are not laughing, do they have trouble spelling your name “correctly” (and we use that term very loosely)?
4. Are you white?
If you answered yes to any TWO of the above questions, you probably have a dumb name.

With the non-stop screw-ups of the LJ overlords for the past 2 years, I can’t muster enough optimism to renew my paid account in May. I used to hope that things will change for the better, but lately it’s become obvious that all serious development of LJ as a journaling platform has stopped. It probably stopped before SA acquired LJ even. Since then the focus has been to monetize what’s already there. V-gifts, sponsored communities, ads, etc. etc.

I’m staying as long as I can post privately and export existing entries via jbackup for free.
